C10200 Oxygen free copper

OF, C102. Pure coppers. Oxygen free work that does not need the tighter purity control of C10100.

Specification

UNS
C10200
Conductivity
101 percent IACS
Machinability
20 (C36000 = 100)
Specification
ASTM B152 (sheet, strip, plate, rolled bar), ASTM B187 (bus bar, rod, bar, shapes)
Usual temper
O61 annealed, or H02 half hard

Published typical values for the alloy, not a promise from any shop. Where these numbers come from.

How it machines

Identical behaviour to C10100 and C11000 at the tool. Gummy, burr prone, needs sharp tooling and coolant. The difference from C10100 is in purity control at the mill, not in how it cuts.

Watch out. Often quoted interchangeably with C10100 by stockists. If the purity level matters to your application, say which one on the drawing.

Typical parts

  • Oxygen free electrical parts where C10100 certification is not required
  • Brazed assemblies
  • Some vacuum components, by agreement

When not to specify it

Do not accept it as a silent substitute for C10100 on a certified vacuum or accelerator part. Stockists quote the two interchangeably and they are not, if your specification names one of them.

Drawing callout

Replace the bracket with the ASTM specification for your product form. The RFQ builder does this for you and adds edge, finish and plating lines.

Other pure coppers

Above 99.9 percent copper. You specify these when a conductivity, thermal or vacuum number is on the print, and you pay for them in machining time.

  • C10100
    Oxygen free electronic copper
Ultra high vacuum parts, hydrogen brazed assemblies, sinker EDM electrodes, RF and cryogenic components.
  • C11000
    Electrolytic tough pitch copper
The default electrical copper. Busbars, terminals, lugs, contact blocks, cold plates, heat sinks.
  • C12200
    Phosphorus deoxidized copper, high residual
Tube, pipe and fabricated parts that get brazed or welded. Standard plumbing and refrigeration copper.
